How to differentiate intuition from fear
Most people acknowledge that they have an intuition - or some people call it gut feeling – but what they also do is mix up intuition and fear with each other. Mixing up fear and intuition creates chaos and ignorance towards the intuitive messages and it makes people shut down their internal compass, as they simply do not know if they shall take an action or not.
I was one of them, mixing them up – and sometimes I still do, and sometimes my intuition changes to fear. However, over the years I have trained myself to understand the difference as the whispers of our soul give us all the answers if we just listen. I would love it if we all be tuned in to our intuition, as it is the biggest superpower we have in life.
Here’s how I trained myself to understand the difference:
HOW DO YOU FEEL?
When you receive a message, listen to your body during that moment. How does your body feel? How does your mind feel? As we all are one, yet different, we also can feel intuition and fear differently.
If you feel calm, clear, caring, loving, knowing, trusting, accepting, flowing, warm your intuition is speaking. Intuition is such a beautiful, caring essence of purest love, acceptance, and freedom. It does not judge. It does not push. Your body and mind are relaxed. And you simply are one with the thought, feeling, or image you have received. You just know and most of the time you cannot even explain it. My dear Soul, you have heard your intuitive voice!
If you feel cold, scared, hesitant, logical, rational, insecure your ego and fear are visiting you. Fear is part of your ego and is alerting you to run out of the situation. Sometimes we truly need to run, sometimes we simply should stay. Fear makes you feel tense, ill, stressed. Your head is foggy, your thoughts are stuck. You might overanalyze the topic. Usually fear is so strong that it takes over everything – and that’s why we easily mix it up with intuition, as it can hit you so suddenly and rule like a king! For me, fear always feels like a cold nasty sensation of shivers that run down from my head.
PRACTISE, PRACTISE, PRACTISE:
You cannot learn to play the piano, without practicing it. The same goes for intuition. You must get to know it, understand your body better, and start trusting it.
The easiest way to practice this is with the smaller moments and questions. Don’t start with the biggest topic in life, as you can be loading too many expectations towards receiving the answer.
When you think you received an intuitive message, trust it, and act on it. Listen to your body. Write down what happened and how you felt. Then wait and see what the outcome was. Sure, sometimes we never know what would have happened if you had turned left when you followed your intuition to turned right. And sometimes we do make a mistake and decide to turn left even if your intuition told you to turn right. Soon you realize that you ended up in a massive traffic jam and you should have listened to your inner guidance. Don’t worry – we all make mistakes.
CREATE SPACE TO HEAR YOUR INTUITION:
Intuition does not arrive from pushing the result. It comes when there is space for it to arrive. The best thing to create the space is to step out of it, meditate or practice any type of sport or art that allows you to enter the flow of life.
The other day I was dealing with a bigger question in life. I was listing the pros and cons and trying to push for my intuitive messages to come through. My fear was all over me and I felt almost ill. At that point, my dad suggested that I would join him in the forest to pick wild mushrooms. That was a moment for me that I noticed being stuck and not going anywhere with my decision – I needed to clear my head, step away from the topic and create space for my intuition to speak up. After spending a few hours in the forest, I slowly started to know the answer to my question. Even if I was surprised by the answer, I knew it was the right one, as I just felt so good and calm about it.
The moment when you start accepting and trusting your intuition, you feel calmer about everything in life – as you always have your best friend guiding you safely during every step you take.
