6 Different ways that make your home toxic

Today, I want to open your minds and eyes to how your home can be toxic. Often, these are unnoticeable things that affect us. Some of them are based on our habits of buying certain kinds of home products without knowing that these products are not necessarily the best for your (or your family’s) well-being and health.

The toxicity of your home affects you in different ways. It can mess up your hormonal system, create inflammation, trigger allergies, or boost other underlying health concerns. It can make you sad, down, anxious, or even somewhat depressed. It can make you feel stuck in negativity. It is individual how the toxic things affect you.

I want you to feel good, radiant and joyful at home and have this easiness within you when you spend time at home. So that’s why I want to talk about 6 different ways your home can be toxic without you realizing it.

Pay attention first to the products you use in your kitchen that are in contact with your food.

1. Kitchen products

It can be difficult – and expensive – to start making your kitchen as non-toxic as possible. Because no brand can fully guarantee that the non-toxic item you buy is 100% safe unless it has been tested in many ways. However, the world is changing, and there are many things you can do to start reducing the toxic items in your kitchen – which you should definitely do.

First, pay attention to the products you use in your kitchen that are in contact with your food: kitchen pans, cups, cooking spoons, containers, bags, etc. What kind of material are they? If any of those items are plastic or have a non-stick surface, remove as many as possible. Choose healthier options for cooking pots, pans, and bowls and buy glass, stainless steel, uncoated cast iron, or 100% lead-free ceramic products.

2. Household products: sprays, candles, detergents, etc.

What do you clean your home with? What kind of ingredients are in your favorite laundry detergent? Next time you buy any cleaning products, read the ingredients. Aim for natural, non-toxic, and organic products. Nowadays, there are excellent choices here for a reasonable price! Or you can make your cleaning products.

Do you burn a lot of candles at home? Well, my dear, it’s time to question the ones you buy. Many candles are actually toxic. Especially all the ones having fragrance that is not made of natural (organic) oil are toxic. Toss those out! Read more about the candles from here.

3. Non-organic & processed foods

Organic food can be expensive, but it is a choice of choosing health over spending less money. When you buy organic, you get healthier and your self-respect increases, you also start respecting Mother Earth more. Organic food also tastes better, and you throw away less food because of the respect you have.

Non-organic foods are full of pesticides and processed foods have many toxic ingredients in them. Also, many of those products have little nutritional value left.

Why am I talking about food in this blog post? Because it will not only reduce your energy, that reduces your home’s energy, but it also directly lowers your home’s vibe because those products are not vibrating at higher energy due to the toxins.

4. Furniture & interior textile

This is a difficult one. If you buy new furniture, you should wait to bring it inside your home from the factory because it has lots of toxic factory fumes and chemicals. It would be best to leave it outside, e.g., in your garage, balcony, or terrace, for days before you bring it in. Once you bring it in, you should wash or clean it the best you can.

Older second-hand products don’t have this problem anymore. However, you cannot guarantee no toxins are used to make those products.

When you buy new textiles, wash them first. That will reduce the amount of factory chemicals that the fabrics have. With materials such as wool, etc., you can leave them outside in the colder countries when the weather is cold or wash them in snow.

What about what’s inside your sofa or your cushions? What materials are those made of? Again, search for brands that make their products non-toxic, e.g., wool pillows.

5. Items at your home that you don't like

This is a different way of seeing toxicity at home. These items create negativity in your mind and life because you continuously surround yourself with items, furniture, art, colors, clothes, and materials you don’t like or enjoy. So why don’t you change that immediately?

Ask yourself, what can you do right now to change this? This is one of the easiest things to do: declutter those items at that you don’t like. Give them to someone who enjoys or needs them more than you.

6. Your trauma

Why do I add trauma here? We all have gone through some traumatic experiences in this or other lives that we carry within. And many of us also heal those consciously at home daily. If you belong to this box and are self-healing at home, you need to understand that you need to start clearing the energy at your home after your self-healing sessions.

On the other hand, trauma negativity affects our beliefs, feelings, and behavior. And that behavior is often, unfortunately, directly towards others at home. So, you might be arguing, being anxious, or saying nasty things to the other person. A healthy way of fighting can clear things up, especially when you know how to settle it. But if it is a toxic way of fighting, it lowers everyone’s vibe at home, also your home’s.

So, after fighting, are you able to apologize and forgive? Can you settle things? When you clear the energy of the fight, it removes that energy at home, and the negativity is not left lingering around. However, if the energy is not cleared, it stays for days. There are many ways to clear the energy: Here you can find one of them.
