3 ways to cultivate more self-love

Do you love yourself? Like truly? It might be challenging to reply to this question that YES, I DO. Because we – as a collective – have forgotten self-love. It is time to remember so that we can raise the energy of this planet and start living a heart-centered life, and focus on love and joy over fear. This post is a channeled message from the Goddess Aphrodite (also known as Venus) to help you to cultivate more self-love.

Self-love means respecting and accepting yourself fully: the dark and light within you. The good and bad. The beautiful and ugly parts. It means forgiving yourself. It shows up as loving, accepting, and forgiving thoughts and self-talk in your mind. It shows up as caring, nurturing, and pampering acts toward yourself. Your self-love always shines when you meet your needs and draw boundaries with others. Your self-love lives in your heart chakra and is also closely connected with self-worth and self-value: your solar plexus chakra.

5D heart opening and the chamber of the heart chakra

Aphrodite, the Goddess of love and self-love, is gorgeous. With her long wavy hair, and eyes full of passion, she stands next to me when I write this. She wants you to accept and respect yourself. She asks you to forgive yourself. She wants you to learn to love yourself. And she wants you to remember the old saying that when you love yourself, only then you can fully love others.

She whispers in my ear: The strongest power is love – the love within you. When your heart chakra opens, and you step into the chambers of your heart to transform the blocking energies of fear into love, you will start connecting with this warm, powerful, calm self-love. When your energy has risen into the 5th dimension, you find from your heart your inner truth. You will then live according to your truth. That opening allows you to establish a loving connection with your power within (solar plexus) and with your authentic voice (throat chakra).

How do you know if you need to open your heart chakra?

I always spend some time in the heart chakra in all the healings I do. It is a vulnerable space within all of us and prone to energetic hits and blockages. The heart stores a lot of trauma from our entire lifetime, especially from our childhood. It also stores all the heart breaks you have experienced, ancestral trauma and trauma from all the lives you have lived.

The blocked heart chakra manifest in your life as:

Negative beliefs about yourself that stop you from receiving what you truly desire. Sometimes these beliefs are so deep within you that you do not recognize them, such as: I am not wanted, desired, loved, or enough. Or I don’t matter. Or I am crazy.

Attachment issues within you: Having anxious, avoidant, or disorganized attachment style.

Not being able to give or receive love fully.

Putting others before you.

Not taking care of your wellbeing on all – or only a few levels: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual.

Health issues in your chest or upper back.

How to cultivate more self-love?

When you start healing your heart chakra it can feel painful to face all the heartbreaks of your past. But when your heart chakra starts to open, you begin to live your life from the heart center, allowing it to lead and decide, rather than your mind and fear. And then you step into living the life of your dreams.

Below I will give you 3 ways how to cultivate more self-love.

1. Inner child work: forgiveness & affirmations

In the chambers of your heart, there is often a scared little inner child who needs you. It is time for you to meet this person. Give him/her what is needed and nurture this person with love. Forgive, what ever this inner child is carrying with. Replace the inner child’s fears with positive affirmations: I am loved, I matter. I am enough. I love myself. When you state these affirmations, remember that you need to believe in them so that they work.

2. Identify which areas of you (mental, physical, emotional, spiritual) need the most love and care from you, and give yourself what you desire and need

Have you been neglecting yourself? It’s time to give yourself some time, pamper and take care of yourself. For example:

– If physical: do your favorite sports or something creative. Go for a massage or have a haircut!

– If mental: clear your mind (meditate) and spend some me-time. Take a break from all the stress around you.

– If emotional: face your feelings. Sit in stillness and ask yourself, what are you feeling?

– If spiritual: do that inner child exercise above, meditate or practise yoga or mindfulness.

3. Meditate to meet the Goddess Aphrodite

Do meditation and set an intention to meet Aphrodite and connect with her energy of self-love. When you close your eyes, you can say, “I am opening this space to meet the Goddess of self-love, Aphrodite, to connect with her most loving energy,” and then sit in stillness or have some music playing. Allow her to fill the space with her loving energy. You might see, feel or hear her. You might also not see, feel or hear anything. And that’s okay. Trust that she has been there for you. When you end the session, remember to thank her.

Remember that the greatest of all is love – the love within you, my dear soul friend.
